How to get CEC certificate?

CEC certification is an Appliance Efficiency Regulation implemented by the California Energy Commission in accordance with the law on December 30, 2005. The purpose of implementing this regulation is to improve the efficiency of electrical products, save energy, and reduce gas emissions and greenhouse effects.

1.Which products require CEC certification?
The CEC certification specifications require 58 categories of products. Specifically, these 58 categories of products cover almost all of our electronic and electrical products. They can be divided into the following categories:

1) Power supply: external power supply, power adapter;
2) Information products: set-top boxes, monitors, etc.;
3) Audio and video products: DVD players;
4) TV;
5) Small battery charging system: Bluetooth headsets, Bluetooth speakers, sports bracelets, driving recorders, mobile phones, tablets, laptops and other products with batteries;
6) Large battery charging systems: products other than small charging systems;
7) Lamps: LED lamps, fluorescent lamps, fluorescent lamp rectifiers and other products;
8) Home appliances: refrigerators, air conditioners, washing machines and other home appliances;
9) Transformer products;
10) Motor products
11)Bathroom products: showerheads and showerhead sets, faucets, toilets, etc.
Notice! CEC certification specifications also include sanitary products and other products above that are exported to California.
Bathroom products exported to California require CEC certification which is also called energy saving or water saving certification.
Bathroom products: shower heads, basin faucets, kitchen faucets, faucet aerators, faucet extenders, metering faucets, flushing fountains, bathtub outlet diverters, public toilet faucets and commercial pre-flush spray valves. These products which are sold to California are required CEC certification.

CEC regulations stipulate minimum energy efficiency standards for 21 categories of electrical products and are regularly updated to review and incorporate new energy efficiency technologies and methods. The latest version is (CEC-400-2012-019). Bathroom faucets and showers that are also within the scope of CEC certification also need CEC certification. Amazon sells showerheads, handheld showerheads, showerhead sets, faucets, basin faucets, metering faucets, consumer kitchen faucets, shower heads and other bathroom products that are required CEC certification when shipped to California. CEC is also required for non-charged bathroom products. Bath shower panels, shower sets, bath systems, faucets, faucet aerators, extenders and other bathroom products also require CEC certification on Amazon in California.

2. What is the process to register CEC certification?
CEC requires sellers to send products to its designated laboratory for testing, and upload product test data and other necessary information to the MAEDBS system for registration review.
After passing the audit, register on the CEC official website to pass the CEC efficiency certification.

The specific process is as follows:
1)The applicant submits product-related information to the testing lab;
2)The engineer determines the standards, test time and fees that the product needs to implement based on the product information;
3)The applicant provides CEC certification samples and sample information;
4)The engineer arranges CEC certification sample testing;
5)CEC certification agency accepts applications;
6)CEC certification registration completed.
